Man found unresponsive in 2000 block of Sledge St.

On 6/24/16 at approximately 7:01 PM, Marshall Police Department Patrol Officers responded to the 2000 block of Sledge St in reference to an unresponsive male lying in the front yard.  It was reported that the victim, Demarcus Perry, had been shot.  Mr. Perry was transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center – Marshall, where he later died due to his injuries.  Members of the Marshall Police Department Criminal Investigations Bureau began investigating the cause of Mr. Perry’s injuries.
Although the original call stated a person had possibly been shot, it was later determined no shooting had occurred.  Preliminary results of an autopsy performed indicate Demarcus Perry’s death was accidental.  It is believed that Perry died from blood loss after falling through a glass window.   The police department does not expect to receive the final autopsy report for several weeks.  Demarcus Perry was 31 years of age at the time of his death.
