Much to Do

People often complain that there is nothing to do around here, then do exactly nothing My dad served in the Air Force for over 38 years.  We moved around a little.  Sometime we lived in small farming communities and at others in big cities.  I also served for 25 years, and moved around even more that Dad.  He taught me to seek the best a community has to offer and embrace it.

Right around us there is much to enjoy.  Take in a high school football game Friday nights in the fall.  See Collegiate athletics at Wiley College, ETBU, of SFA.  This weekend one could go enjoy the Gregg County Fair in Longview.  This is second Saturday in Marshall and there will be live music and other entertainment.

Go see the Mudbugs play in Shreveport, or shop on the Boardwalk. Check out the art displays in Marshall. Go to the newly opened World of Wonders in Longview.

Don’t forget about the outdoors. We have state parks at Caddo Lake, Tyler, Martin Creek Lake, and Daingerfield.  Go fishing at Lake Murvaul, Lake Fork, and Lake O’the Pines.

Don’t forget to see the Country Music Hall of Fame in Carthage, and the Oil Museum in Kilgore.

Engage in community service with Mission Marshall, Habitat for Humanity, and the Food Bank.

Take adult education classes through Panola College or TSTC. Catch Pokemon in Downtown Marshall and in Jefferson.

There is plenty to do.  Be content. Ask a neighbor to join you. Have a great weekend.
