Former Marshall baseball star to be head coach in Huntsville

HUNTSVILLE – Marshall native Jackson Hood was named the head coach of the Huntsville High School baseball team.

Hood has been the assistant coach for the baseball team for the past two seasons. He will take over for former head coach Brad Bohannon who resigned after the most current season.

Prior to joining the Huntsville Independent School District, Hood was a coach and teacher in the White Oak Independent School District. He attended Stephen F. Austin University.


The son of Jan and Joe Hood, he was a three-year starter at Marshall High School in baseball, where he earned all-district honors each season. As a sophomore at MHS, Hod hit .350, as a junior he hit .320 and as a senior he hit .360. Hood was named Most Valuable Player as a senior after being named team’s ‘Mr. Clutch Performer’ as a sophomore and a junior. (Credit to the Huntsville Item for the information)
