Moncrief Group Leads Staff Development At MJHS, SHMS

Teachers and staff at Marshall Junior High School and Sam Houston Middle School achieved a slam dunk in staff development on Monday as the Moncrief OneTeam, led by former NBA All-Star Sidney Moncrief, and his wife, career educator Takisa Moncrief, provided team-building sessions during a one-day visit to Marshall ISD.

Moncrief, who played for the University of Arkansas before spending 11 seasons in the NBA primarily with the Milwaukee Bucks, and his wife, Takisha, now serve as motivational speakers and presenters for a variety of topics, including staff professional development, early childhood development, youth development and basketball development.

Sidney was a five-time NBA All-Star with the Bucks, including a five-time member of the All-NBA Defensive team. Upon retirement, he entered the coaching ranks as head coach at the University of Arkansas-Little Rock. He also is a former NBA assistant coach with the Dallas Mavericks, Golden State Warriors and Milwaukee Bucks.

He has served on the board of directors for a Fortune 500 company and as president of various retail auto dealerships. He has also authored five books.

Takisha Moncrief is a former teacher, literacy coach, school improvement supervisor and professional development specialist. She has spent nearly 20 years in K-12 education serving children, teachers and parents in Wisconsin and Texas, specializing in curriculum design, development and delivery.

As partner with Moncrief One Team, Takisha completes the leadership and coaching dynamic duo. She is the creator of Develop Me From A to Z and co-author of Your Passport to Becoming a Valuable Team Player.

Monday served as a scheduled staff development day for MISD teachers and staff throughout the district. Students in MISD were off for the Columbus Day holiday.10-14-16-shms-moncrief-1 10-14-16-shms-moncrief-2 10-14-16-shms-moncrief-3
