UNCERTAIN – Fred Henry Petersen of Uncertain, Texas passed away on May 22, 2016 after a brief illness.
Mr. Petersen was born on October 14, 1925 in Stockton, California to Frederick Henry Petersen and Zella Beidleman Petersen. He graduated from High School in 1943 and entered the Navy, where he served for 4 years. After his service, he attended Colorado State University, where he met his future wife, Carolyn Nell Smith Petersen of Marshall. They were married on September 1, 1950 in Modesto, California.
He continued his education, earning his Masters Degree in Horticulture at the University of California at Davis.
Mr. Petersen served as the County Agriculture Agent in Sutter County, California and then managed the Felice & Perrili Corp. orchards in the San Joaquin Valley. In 1970, he and his family moved to Harrison County where he owned and operated The Motor Supply Warehouse in Uncertain, Texas.
He served as the Fire Chief for the Uncertain Volunteer Fire Department for many years.
He is survived by his daughter, Penny Halliburton of Uncertain; son, Reid Petersen and wife, Kathy of Elysian Fields; and son, Ken Petersen and wife, Betty of Marshall. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and many great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Carolyn and his sister, Patricia Baker.
Visitation was Tuesday, May 24, 2016 from 5:30pm to 7pm at Meadowbrook Funeral Home in Marshall, Texas. The family will have a private burial.
