Dennie, Poleon qualify for Finals

GULF SHORES, Alabama – The No. 6 Wiley College women’s track and field team gains two more finalist as Renae Dennie advanced in the 100-meter hurdles and Natasha Poleon reached the 400-meter dash finals.

Dennie ran 14.13 in the 100-meter hurdles – which was the top time in her heat. Poleon – who qualified for the 200-meter dash final on Thursday – ran 55.59 to win her qualifying heat in the 400-meter dash. Dennie will run in the 100-meter hurdles final at 3:20 p.m. Saturday. Poleon will run in the 400-meter dash final at 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

Dennie was .03 seconds from qualifying for the 100-meter dash final with her time of 11.95. Danielle David ran 12.34 and Terrisa Mark ran 12.60 in her final individual race of her career. Chriss-Ann Thomas was within .29 seconds from qualifying in the 400-meter dash. David ran 58.16 and Deja Harrison ran 1:04.13.

Ebony Carr competed in the triple jump and the Lady Wildcats ran in the 4 x 400-meter relay trial Friday Night. If the women advance they will run in the final at 6:15 p.m. Saturday.
