Candlelight Vigil For MHS Accident Victims Scheduled Monday Evening
A candlelight vigil has been scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, in Maverick Stadium to honor the memories of two Marshall High School students and to show support for two more students who are currently hospitalized following a fatal one-vehicle accident early Saturday morning.
MHS juniors Ny’Jahl Armstrong and Derrick Bennett were killed in the accident that occurred on Highway 43 South near Grangeway at approximately 1 a.m. Saturday. Two of their fellow students — junior LaTavion Jackson and sophomore Jerrold Maze — were hospitalized following the accident.
The vigil will be open to the public. MISD will have additional counselors available for students and others affected by the tragedy Monday morning at MHS.
More information will be shared as it becomes available. Marshall ISD is thankful for and asks for continued thoughts and prayers in the coming days for the families of Ny’Jahl, Derrick, LaTavion and Jerrold, as well as the entire Maverick Family, during this devastating time of loss for our community.
