Grocer will donate a percentage of sales to five organizations
SHREVEPORT, La. (Nov. 9, 2016) – Whole Foods Market Shreveport will host five community giving days over the next five weeks as part of their commitment to supporting the local community, and to celebrate the opening of their first Shreveport store. One percent of net sales on designated community giving days will benefit the following Shreveport-Bossier area nonprofit organizations:
Wednesday, Nov. 16 – Community Renewal International
For 21 years, Community Renewal International has reconnected communities so every citizen feels a sense of belonging and purpose. Their programs have united citizens in need with others in the neighborhood who can offer support, and their Friendship House program has served thousands of children and teens.
Wednesday, Nov. 23 – The Fuller Center for Housing
The Fuller Center for Housing works with organizations and volunteers to build and repair homes for people unable to secure adequate housing by conventional means. Funds raised will support 2017 Veterans Build for Shreveport-Bossier veterans.
Wednesday, Nov. 30 – Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana
The Food Bank is the largest distributor of donated food for the seven-parish region, serving more than 120 nonprofits. Last year, they provided seven million pounds of food to 75,000 individuals.
Wednesday, Dec. 7 – Shreveport Green
Shreveport Green promotes a healthy, sustainable and economically vital community through many programs, including litter prevention, tree planting, beautification and community greening, waste reduction, community gardens, improved access to healthy foods, and more.
Wednesday, Dec. 14 – Gingerbread House
Gingerbread House serves child abuse victims ages 2 to 14 with multidisciplinary investigations, mental health therapy interventions, family advocacy and supportive services, community education and prevention services, and professional development and training opportunities.
“Our team has the honor of opening Shreveport’s first Whole Foods Market,” said Ralph White, the store’s team leader. “We have the opportunity to support some wonderful local organizations over the next five weeks and help neighborhoods, children, veterans and families throughout the area. We invite the community to join us – we can’t wait to open our doors!”
Shoppers will have the opportunity to meet the nonprofits at the store and learn more about their impact throughout the area.
