Wiley College Athletes participate in South Marshall Elementary’s annual STEM-A-thon run

Members of the Wiley College men’s and women’s basketball teams and men’s and women’s cross country teams showed their support for cancer awareness by participating in South Marshall Elementary’s annual STEM-A-Thon run.

“It was fun because we got to give back to kids,” men’s basketball player Myron Taylor said. “It’s something everyone needs to do.”

The athletes ran a mile through the neighborhoods near the school with South Marshall Elementary students, staff and other members of the community. Before the run, participants enjoyed a small presentation by South Marshall Elementary students.

“It was fun being around little kids,” women’s cross country runner Leslie Bethea said. “We got to show our support for cancer awareness and walk in favor of it.”

“We got to reach out to the little kids and let them know that we are here for them,” women’s basketball player Shaleiyah “Lisa” Nealey said.
