US 59 to be resurfaced in Marion County

ATLANTA – A section of US 59 in Marion County will receive new riding surface this summer according to plans approved in May by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).
“We will be resurfacing a 3-mile section of US 59 from 0.1 mile south of SH 49 in Jefferson to the Harrison County Line,” said Paul Wong, area engineer for TxDOT in Marshall.
East Texas Bridge, Inc. of Longview was awarded the contract for the construction project with a bid of $2.1 million.
Work on the project should begin in July and take about three months to complete, Wong said.
