US 59 to be resurfaced in Harrison County
ATLANTA – A section of US 59 in southern Harrison County will receive new riding surface during the coming year according to plans approved in June by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).
“We will be resurfacing a 4.2-mile section of US 59 from Farm-to-Market Road 1186 to the Panola County Line,” said Paul Wong, area engineer for TxDOT in Marshall. “Repairs will be made to the existing pavement and then the entire roadway will be resurfaced.”
Madden Contracting Company, Inc. of Minden. La. was awarded the contract for the construction project with a bid of $4.9 million.
Work on the project should begin in August and take about a year to complete, Wong said.
