Section of Loop 390 to be Resurfaced in Marshall
Highway to close to through-traffic about four months
A section of Loop 390 northeast of Marshall will receive a new riding surface this summer according to plans approved in February by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).
“We will be resurfacing a 2.5-mile section of the highway from US 59 to State Highway 43,” said Ray Brady, area engineer for TxDOT in Marshall. “The old pavement will be removed, the base materials strengthened and then the entire roadway will be repaved.”
To expedite the project and complete it as soon as possible, the section of highway will be closed to through-traffic while the work is being conducted. Traffic will be detoured onto US 59 and US 80.
Madden Construction Company of Minden, La. was awarded the contract for the project with a bid of $6.0 million.
Work on the project should begin in April and take about four months to complete, Brady said.
