No. 3 Wildcats send seven athletes to finals


GULF SHORES, Alabama – The No. 3 Wiley College men’s track and field team will have several athletes contending for NAIA titles – as seven advance to event finals.
Marbeq Edgar in the 800-meter run trial. He ran 1:50.98 to qualify for the final.
Moriba Morain. He ran 10.19 in the 100-meter dash trial.

Marbeq Edgar – the defending NAIA 800-meter run champion won his heat with a time of 1:50.98. Shevan Parks also qualified for the final with his time of 1:52.65. They will run at 5 p.m. Saturday for the championship.

Moriba Morain – who is the defending 100-meter dash champion – ran the fastest time in the trial at 10.19. It was also his fastest time this season. Oraine Palmer won his heat with a time of 10.43. Quinn-Lee Ralph advanced with a time of 10.34. All three athletes will run at 4 p.m. Saturday.

Kimorie Shearman ran the fastest 400-meter dash trial time at 47.10. Rajay Hamilton ran 47.45 to also advance to the 400-meter dash final. Both athletes will run in the final at 4:40 p.m. Saturday.

Jesse Berkley and Machael Mark ran the 100-meter dash for the final time this season. Berkley ran 10.76 and Mark ran 10.86. Mark competed in the long jump and jumped 6.22. He withdrew from the event after his first jump.

The Wildcats ran in the 4 x 400-meter relay trial in the evening. If they qualify for the final they will run at 6:25 p.m. Saturday.
