MPD Implements CompStat
The Marshall Police Department has implemented a predictive policing system. Through the use of CompStat (Computerized Statistics), MPD now has the opportunity to identify which areas in the city are falling victim to various crimes. Officers are able to take that information and saturate the targeted areas to help prevent crime, solve past crimes and identify potential offenders and victims. These techniques will help us address problems more effectively and efficiently.
Chief of Police Jesus “Eddie” Campa stated, “This new tool will eventually allow us to predict what area a crime will occur. With that information, we will be able to not only collect data, but develop crime-related forecasts and take action in the community to better protect our citizens.”
The Marshall Police Department implemented the system on November 21, 2016.
