Morain wins NAIA and Red River Athletic Conference Track Athlete of the Week

Moriba Morain makes history as he is the first Wiley College Track Athlete to win both the NAIA and Red River Athletic Conference Track Athlete of the Week Wednesday.

Morain ran the fastest 200-meter dash time in the NAIA this season at 20.94 at the Bobby Lane Invitational in Arlington, Texas, Saturday – competing against NCAA Division I schools. Last season, Morain was the NAIA runner-up in the event. Morain, the defending NAIA 100-meter dash champion, ran 10.59 in the 100-meter dash. He currently owns the Wildcats top times in both events. Earlier this season he was apart of the Wildcats fastest 4 x 100-meter relay team at 40.11.

Morain is one of four Wiley College athletes to win NAIA Player of the Week honors this season. He joins men’s basketball players George Page and Ricardo Artis and women’s track athlete Natasha Poleon. The four national awards are the most by a Red River Athletic Conference school in a single season.

He is the third Wildcat to win Red River Athletic Conference Track Athlete of the Week. Kimorie Shearman won for the week of February 28-March 5. Quinn-Lee Ralph won for March 13-19.

Morain and the Wildcats will compete in the 90th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, presented by Spectrum Thursday through Saturday in Austin, Texas, and the Bobcat Relays in San Marcos, Texas.
