MHS Debate team earns recognition at Carthage event
MARSHALL, Texas – Members of the Marshall High School Debate team competed at the Carthage Academic Invitational this past Saturday, Nov. 11, with a five students placing in their events.
In Lincoln-Douglas Debate, junior Dakota Epps finished 3-0 and brought home first place, with teammate and senior Nathan Hicks also going 3-0 and finishing in second place. Senior Criston Cade went 3-0 to finish in third place, and senior Jackson Roth as 2-1 and finished eighth.
Sophomore Deshona Jernigan advanced to the final round and placed seventh overall in Persuasive Speaking.
Cade also advanced to the finals in Informative Speaking, where he finished in second place.
The Debate team is coached by Mr. Kenneth Adcock.
