Lady Wildcats hope to clinch spot in Red River Athletic Conference Tournament

The Wiley College women’s soccer team hopes to punch their ticket and improve their seeding in the Red River Athletic Conference Tournament, when it visits Texas College on Thursday and Jarvis Christian on Saturday at Lear Park Athletic Complex in Longview.

The Lady Wildcats (6-3-2, 3-2-2 in RRAC) enter this week in fourth-place and are seeking their second straight RRAC Tournament Berth. The top six teams reach the tournament. The third and fourth seeds host first round games.

“Playing at home is always welcome,” coach Rafael Muniz said. “We need to be intense in our preparation for these next two games. Anyone can win on a  given day. We are going to work on every aspect of our game.”

Texas College (2-12-2, 1-6 in RRAC) and Jarvis Christian College (2-13-1, 0-6-1 in RRAC) are eliminated from tournament contention. The Lady Steers are coming off a 2-1 loss to the University of the Southwest Saturday. The Lady Wildcats won their first game against Texas College last season.

Jarvis Christian College is coming off a 1-0 loss to former RRAC school Bacone College on Monday. The Lady Bulldogs only non-loss was a 1-1 tie against the University of the Southwest. Wiley College has won the last two games against Jarvis Christian.
