Keller selected as Red River Athletic Conference Champions of Character Athlete of the Week


Wiley College volleyball player Miyah Keller has received plenty of recognition for her play on the court on Friday she was chosen as the Red River Athletic Conference Champions of Character Athlete of the Week.

Keller is the first Wiley College Athlete to be selected for this award. She is a mass communications major and currently holds a 3.35-grade point average. She is a charter member of Wiley College’s Wildcat 3.0 Club.

On the court, Keller is respected by her teammates and coaches for how hard she works and discipline. She is usually the first to arrive to the gym. She leads by example and was chosen as a team captain. Keller pushes her teammates to remain positive and be at their best.

I had the pleasure of coaching Miyah her freshman year in high school,” head volleyball coach LaKyva Bason said. “When the opportunity presented itself for me to coach her again, there was no hesitation. She has excelled in the classroom and on the court. She’s extremely fun to be around, and she is an excellent teammate. No one person can be more deserving.”

Off the court, Keller is very active in the community. She volunteers at free clinics in the community and surrounding towns. She feeds the homeless during the holidays. She gave Christmas presents to a boy.
