For the second consecutive meet, Laban Kandie was the first to cross the finish line as he beat 111 runners at the East Texas Baptist University Tiger Invitational at Marshall City Arena Saturday.

Marbeq Edgar finished third (26:27.80) and Leonard Kiprono came in 19 seconds behind Edgar for fourth (26:46.24).

“We worked together as a team,” Kandie said. “That allowed us to get the top positions.”

Darion De La Rosa set a new personal best in an 8K race at 29:26.28). Roger Ali finished the race in 36:00.77. The Wildcats competed against NAIA schools – Louisiana State University-Shreveport, Jarvis Christian College, Truett McConnell University and Louisiana College. Wiley also ran against NCAA Division III schools – East Texas Baptist University, LeTourneau University, Belhaven University, University of Texas-Tyler, University of Texas-Dallas, McMurry University and Millsaps University. The Wildcats finished fifth in the team standings.

“Everyone improved their times, which is good,” head coach Marlon Baugh said. “I was looking more at time than position.”
