BRIDGE TO BE REPLACED ON CR 1113 SOUTHEAST OF MARSHALL
Replacement of washed out bridge will reopen road
A washed out bridge crossing Quapaw Creek on Harrison County Road 1113 southeast of Marshall will be replaced this coming year, according to plans approved in July by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).
“We will be replacing the bridge crossing Quapaw Creek with a concrete structure that will handle all legal loads of traffic,” said Paul Wong, area engineer for TxDOT in Marshall. “The new structure will be 26 feet wide so vehicles will easily be able to pass each other.”
The road has been closed to through-traffic ever since flood waters washed out the bridge several years ago.
Stateline Construction of Texarkana was awarded the contract for the project with a bid of $444,411.
Work on the project should begin in October and take about six months to complete, Wong said.
