City of Marshall hires Carruth as new Police Chief

The Marshall City Commission voted to confirm City Manager Lisa Agnor’s appointment of Cliff Carruth as Marshall’s new Chief of Police at the commission meeting on Sept. 28.
Curruth, who will be retiring from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, has a total of 26 years of experience in law enforcement; six of those years were as a police officer with the Longview Police Department. He most recently was the Senior Supervisory Resident Agent at the Little Rock Division of the FBI. He is a graduate of LeTourneau University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Management, as well as the East Texas Police Academy and FBI Academy.
“I was impressed with his confidence, communication skills and knowledge of law enforcement, I find him to be professional and I feel confident that he is the right fit for the City of Marshall and the Marshall Police Department,” said Agnor.
Carruth replaces Ron Davis, who was hired in May as Interim Police Chief.
“I want to sincerely thank Chief Davis for his dedicated service and professionalism to the Marshall Police Department during this period of transition. He has been a true asset to the department and the city as a whole and I am grateful for all the work he has done for us and wish him well in his future endeavors,” said Agnor.
Davis will be working with Carruth to ensure a smooth transition into his new role as Chief of Police.
“I am very excited to be named the Chief of Police for the Marshall Police Department. I look forward to getting involved in the community and working closely with community members. My family and I are very happy to be moving back home. I will work tirelessly with the department to ensure that we provide superior police services and partner with the community to make Marshall safer,” said Carruth.
He will begin his new role at the end of October.
