Halliday Announces His Candidacy For District 4 City Commission Seat
Doc Halliday announced Sunday evening December 4th that he is running for the City Commission District 4 seat. The announcement was made at a private Christmas party with about 85 friends.
William “Doc” Halliday will be seeking his first elective office. Doc is retired after a varied career, but is actively engaged in numerous activities. He is a member of several civic organizations. Doc has also served as a member of the Board of Directors for numerous non-profits. Mr. Halliday was the first to announce his candidacy for the city commission in the elections that will be held on May 6, 2017.
William “Doc” Halliday is a homeowner, married, and resides with his wife Bobbie, a dog, and two cats in Marshall, Texas. All of the animals were rescues. They have two children, four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren all living in other states. Mr. Halliday and his wife are active members of the First United Methodist Church in Marshall.
Mr. Halliday is a veteran who served in the United States Army. Doc served multiple tours in Southeast Asia beginning in the early 1960s. He also served in East Germany while the “wall” was still up.
Mr. Halliday writes a weekly history article. These articles are published in several states. Doc also works for Meadowbrook Funeral Home where his compassion for those undergoing stressful times is most appreciated.
