It was the first time Lufkin and Angelina County Economic Development and the Chamber of Commerce hosted an event that features likely minded East Texas entrepreneurs that are looking for a boost in their business compete for a cash prize. Britany Vinson of Tome Catering came out on top at the final stage of the competition and claims the $5000 cash prize after vying other finalists in the top four.

Made in Lufkin competition objective is to give all Texas entrepreneurs or potential business owners the opportunity to showcase their business plan and present their idea to local leaders, and judges and stand a chance of winning $5,000 cash prize in the process. The competition is intended to silicate start-up fund to stimulate entrepreneurs’ real-world process and to boost their business. The judges at Made in Lufkin competition function as capital investors deciding which business have the potential to grow into a larger business and which business venture they will likely fund. Britany Vinson of Tome Catering was announced as this year winner of Made in Lufkin competition and was awarded the promised $5,000 cash prize.

According to Britany Vinson, she left the job she had for 10 years to pursue her childhood dream of becoming a full-time chef; she started Tome Catering about three years ago with a hope to make something out of it. She never imagined that her hard work would pay off. According to her, the word TOME is not an actual word but an acronym from her favorite quote “The Ordinary Made Extraordinary”_ the first letter of each word. She also added, she was glad and thankful she made the decision to follow her dream, as being a chef has brought many unbelievable opportunities within the short time she started.

Now the entrepreneur is grateful and happy about the $5000 cash prize she won from Made in Lufkin competition. Vinson interview speech after the competition added, she took a lot of pride in what she do and will never want to serve anything that she wouldn’t want to eat herself. Therefore, TOME Catering strive to make at least 95% of everything from scratch.
