Ray Jackson: What an inspiration in Hallsville!
By Brandon Sheffield, http://smilehallsville.wordpress.com
HALLSVILLE – You would think it would be hard to find something to say about someone who says so little! But it’s not.
Actually it’s far from it! It’s an easy task when a guy like Ray Jackson does so much for his community, but asks for nothing in return. Ever.
And that’s why I find myself wanting to highlight Ray in this blog. Any time this community has asked him for help, he has been right there in the middle of it. You will see him at local events with his employees serving plates of BBQ, sleeves rolled up, gloves on, and smiling the whole time.
Go to Brookshires any given weekend and you will see kids washing cars, selling cookies, and asking for donations of canned food! Where ever and how ever Ray can help, he does. Without question.
It’s just amazing to me when I see some one not only willing to donate money or supplies, anyone can do that. But he donates his time and in turn inspires not only his employees, but also myself and his community.
Regardless of how busy he may be at Brookshires helping customers find items, manning a cash register himself to help people get through his lines faster, or even taking groceries to cars, he is willing to take a moment to talk to you and make you feel at home in his home away from home: Brookshires.
Born and raised in Hallsville, Ray started working for Brookshires in high school 35 years ago! Being shy, he was barely able to speak to customers, but since then he has grown into not only a leader amongst his many employees, but also a leader in our community!
Married to Annette for 29 years they have raised two amazing daughters Kayla and Kaci and Ray will soon be a new grandfather, and I can’t think of anyone better suited for the role.
It sounds cliche, but trust me it’s sincere when I say that they don’t make them like Ray anymore! And we have to do a better job at recognizing people like Ray and the effort they give to make sure heir community is better than when they found it!
So any time you are at Brookshires and see Ray, make sure you thank him. He deserves it! Check out the small interview of Rays at the bottom of this page!
