MISD teachers attend Smithsonian Traveling Exhibit Workshop

A group of Marshall ISD teachers, along with fellow educators from other districts, met at the Marshall Public Library recently to take part in the Smithsonian Traveling Exhibit Workshop sponsored by the Texas State Historical Association and the Harrison County Historical Museum.

Teachers were shown how they can involve their students in collecting oral histories that would be a part of the public presentation of the exhibit. The museum’s exhibition “Hometown Teams” connects sports to local hometowns and captures the stories of local legends from their community.

The exhibit will tour various towns and cities, with a kickoff set for March 23 in Marshall.

Contact Mrs. Shirley Fletcher, MISD AVID Director and Social Studies Coordinator, at 903-927-8732 or via e-mail at fletchersa@marshallisd.com if you or your organization would like to be a part of the kickoff in March.
