By Mike Midkiff, East Texas Baptist University Director of Public Relations

MARSHALL– What if you could go back to college for a few days? But this time around there is no homework and no exams. East Texas Baptist University is holding Hilltop University. This spiritual renewal conference for senior adults is planned on the beautiful campus of ETBU for June 1, 2, & 3rd.  “Hilltop University: Come Experience Life on the Hill” will provide worship, preaching, and Biblical teaching focused on revival and renewal.

Chapel speakers for the senior adult conference include Robert Morris, James Robinson, ETBU President Dr. J. Blair Blackburn and D.L. and Alice Lowrie. Morris is the founding senior pastor of Gateway Church in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Robinson has delivered the Gospel in masses since 1962 through crusade evangelism and via television for more than 40 years. He is a former student and holds an honorary doctorate from ETBU.  Dr. Lowrie is a beloved pastor, teacher, and author.  Mrs. Lowrie is a master of blending wit and wisdom, supplying joy for the journey as she challenges Christians to discover and use their spiritual gifts for the Kingdom.  Dr. Blackburn is the 13th president of ETBU and began his leadership of the university last June.

Three special concerts will be held during Hilltop University. The Hoppers, known as “America’s Favorite Family of Gospel Music” will perform at 1:00 p.m. on the first afternoon of the conference. Humorist Dennis Swanberg will provide a “Laugh In” on Thursday, June 2, at 1:30 p.m. Guy Penrod will provide a vocal performance at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday evening.

Fun and fellowship are planned as a 40’s and 50’s night will be held at the “Soda Shoppe” in the Huffman Activities Area on the first evening.  On the second night, a “Stars and ‘Tiger’ Stripes” USO themed activity will be held as well.
