USAF Concert Band & Singing Sergeants In Concert at ETBU

MARSHALL – The United States Air Force Concert Band and Singing Sergeants from Washington, D.C. are heading to the campus of East Texas Baptist University for a concert on Tuesday, April 12, 2016. The free public concert is sponsored by ETBU and the Marshall News Messenger and will begin at 7:00 p.m. in Baker Auditorium of the Ornelas Spiritual Life Center on campus.

Mezzo soprano vocalist Technical Sgt. Hannah Shirey is excited to be returning to her home state of Texas as well as her alma mater.

“My education at East Texas Baptist University helped get me to where I am today,” said Shirey. “I’m excited to go back to where it all started for me and visit those music mentors who still mean so much to me.”

Originally from Tomball, Texas, Shirey graduated from East Texas Baptist University in 2010 and Southern Methodist University in 2012.

The U.S. Air Force Concert Band and Singing Sergeants are two of the six performing ensembles within The United States Air Force Band, the premier musical organization of the U.S. Air Force. Stationed at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling in Washington, D.C., The U.S. Air Force Band honors those who have served, inspires American citizens to heightened patriotism and service, and positively impacts the global community on behalf of the U.S. Air Force and the United States of America.
