MARSHALL, Texas – Marshall High School cheerleaders attended summer camp in July and brought home several awards, including Superior ribbons in chant and cheer competitions.
The MHS Cheerleaders, under the direction of Mrs. Crystal Pyle, attended the National Cheerleaders Association Camp held at Southern Methodist University.
Marshall had three students – senior and captain, Jamecia Hurd; junior and co-captain, Claire Rizzo; and sophomore Kaeleigh Clark – make the All-America team. These three girls will have the opportunity to attend the Orlando Thanksgiving Tour, where they will perform in the opening of the Magic Kingdom Park Main Street USA Parade at Disney World.
“Girls nominated for All-American can try out to make the All-American team,” said Pyle, in her first year as MHS cheer sponsor. “Only 12 percent of the girls from all of the squads who attend camp make the All-American team.”
Both Varsity and Junior Varsity Maverick Cheer squads earned “Superior” ribbons as a squad, with several MHS students earning “All-American” nominations.
Varsity cheerleaders earning All-American nominations were Samantha Ashley, Madi Bice, Kaeliegh Clark, Fatima Cruz, Catayshia Dunn, Lauren Hill, Jamecia Hurd, Ashley McMullen, Claire Rizzo, Ally Sims, Brooke Stephens, Peyton West and Kinley Wilkins.
JV cheerleaders nominated for All-American included Cloe Carter, Skylar Clark, Kaylee Coleman, Sydney Hart, Kaylin Hygh and Erin McCracken.
