After an impressive debut, Alexia Souza wins Red River Athletic Conference Setter of the Week Monday for September 11-17.
Souza made her debut Friday against the University of the Southwest. She came off the bench and recorded 37 assists – an average of 9.25 per set – to help the Lady Wildcats to a four-set victory. On Saturday in her first career start, Souza tallied 22 assists (7.3 per set) in a three-set sweep over Langston University.
For the week, Souza averaged 8.42 assists per set while also contributing 13 digs, four aces, two kills and two blocks. The Lady Wildcats are tied for the Red River Athletic Conference lead at 2-0 in conference play and 4-3 overall.
Souza is the first Lady Wildcat to earn a weekly Red River Athletic Conference honor in the 2017 season. Wiley College continues Red River Athletic Conference play with matches at Texas College on Friday and Jarvis Christian College on Saturday.
