Travis Carter, Social Studies teacher at Marshall Junior High School, has been named the Patterson Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram and Patterson Toyota of Marshall MISD Teacher of the Week for the week of March 26-30.
Mr. Carter was surprised in a PLC meeting last Wednesday morning by Kristin Skinner of Patterson Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, and MJHS administration, including Principal Yolonda Martin.
“Mr. Carter works late at the school almost daily on his lessons to prepare his class for the best experience he can offer,” said Mrs. Martin in nominating Mr. Carter. “MJHS has implemented a hallway monitoring process during transition periods, between classes, where staff will stand in the middle of the hallway and direct students to walk on the right side. This practice has not only provided an orderly process, but also another way to engage with students. Mr. Carter often re-directs students positively and with a great smile cheering his hallway team on! His students really enjoy his classes with unique discussions to connect historical concepts with daily living or our surroundings. I am proud to name Travis Carter as Patterson Teacher of the Week for MJHS!”
For being selected as Teacher of the Week in MISD, Mr. Carter received a gift check from Patterson Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Toyota as well as a certificate of recognition and balloons.
Patterson has sponsored the weekly MISD Teacher of the Week program since the beginning of the 2014-2015 school year. Campus principals have the opportunity to nominate a deserving teacher from their campus on a rotating basis throughout the year. The nominee is then met on a morning during the week with a surprise visit from Patterson representatives.
