Lymphatic Drainage Massage

Benefits of MLD is intended to encourage the natural drainage of the lymph, which carries waste products away from the tissues back towards the heart. Some examples: relief of sinusitis, bronchitis, chronic pain and lessen cellulite. This is a very gentle massage which is only done by a licensed and certified lymphatic massage therapist. If done incorrectly, this could result in clogged or backed up lymphatic causing it to be more sluggish than before the therapy. Before I perform the lymphatic massage, there is a consultation before each session to make sure one is healthy enough or doesn’t have any contraindications for this type of massage. Some examples of contraindications include: acute inflammation, malignant tumors, thrombosis and major heart problems. Some precautions include: kidney issues, some medications, menstruation and chemotherapy.

The overall goal of MLD is to re-route the flow of stagnated lymphatic fluid around blocked areas into more centrally located healthy lymphatic vessels, which eventually drain into the venous system.
